Securities Industry Association/ New York District’s Economic Education Foundation has elected John B. Sprung, 57, chairman. He is first vice president and general counsel of the municipal markets division of Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. in New York. Mr. Sprung succeeds Robert H. Stovall, president of Stovall’s/21st Advisors in New York, who has been chairman for six years and will continue as a trustee.

BEA Associates, a New York unit of Credit Suisse Asset Management, has named Bruce Pflug, 40, director of consultant development. Mr. Pflug joined Credit Suisse in 1995 and has worked as a marketing and consulting executive in investment management and financial services.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards in Denver has elected Maureen Tsu, 49, to serve on its 1999 board of governors. Ms. Tsu is vice president of Professional Financial Advisors Inc. in San Juan Capistrano, Calif.

CDC Investment Management Corp. in New York has hired Sandy Batten, 47, as senior research analyst. He had been senior economist at Citibank in New York.

KPMG Peat Marwick LLP in Dallas has appointed Galen Oelkers, 43, as director of personal financial planning-family wealth institute. Most recently he was vice president and general manager at Bass Services in Fort Worth, Texas.

Glenmede Trust Co. in Philadelphia has named John M. Amalfitano, 48, vice president and trust administrator. Most recently he served as vice president and manager of personal trust for PNC Bank of Delaware.

Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan LLP in New York has appointed Linda L. D’Onofrio partner in the public finance group. She served as of counsel at Jones Day Reavis & Pogue in New York.

Putnam Investments in Boston has named Louise R. Kuo, 35, managing director of corporate marketing. She worked in a similar capacity at Prudential Investments in Newark, N.J.

Fidelity Investments in Boston has appointed Raymond J. Marcinowski, 44, to lead a new unit -Japan-Fidelity Group Pensions. Most recently he was president of the investment adviser group. Mr. Marcinowski joined Fidelity in 1987.

Fidelity’s institutional brokerage group has appointed Patrick J. Carolan, 37, vice president of market management. Mr. Carolan had been vice president and director of mutual funds for Wilshire Associates Inc. in Santa Monica, Calif.

Brookstreet Securities Corp. in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has named Robert Wargo, 37, senior account executive. He was an adviser at FLP Advisors Inc. in Westport, Conn.

Fiserv Inc. of Brookfield, Wis., which provides data processing and information management systems to the financial industry, has named Bob Beriault, 47, group president of the Fiserv Securities Processing Group. He was president of Lincoln Trust Co., a Fiserv business in Denver.

Liberty Capital Management Inc. in Santa Ana, Calif., has appointed three advisers: Betty Iseri, 44, Gary Prentice, 58, and Ronald H. Jones, 55. Ms. Iseri served as a financial adviser associate at Financial Progressions Group in Newport Beach, Calif. Mr. Prentice held a similar job at Sun Financial Group in Newport Beach, Calif. Mr. Jones had been president and chairman of Western Standard in Newport Beach, Calif.

Hartford Life Insurance Co., a subsidiary of Hartford Life Inc. in Simsbury, Conn., has named Steve Joyce, 39, director of investment product sales and product development. He had been director of bank and thrift sales for annuities since joining the company in 1990.

Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa, has appointed Norman R. Sorensen, 53, president of Principal International Inc. He succeeds Jan Jobe, who will become president of Princor Financial Services Corp. Mr. Sorensen joins the company from American International Group in New York.

In addition, Charles B. Duncan, 54, has been promoted to senior vice president of individual distribution for Principal Life Insurance Co., and Robb B. Hill, 41, to senior vice president of group and pension sales. Mr. Duncan had been vice president of individual distribution since 1994. Mr. Hill joined the company in 1979 and most recently served as vice president of group and pension sales.

Grant’s Financial Publishing in New York has named Jeremy Diamond, 35, as its president. He will retain the title of publisher as well.

TriNet Corporate Realty Trust Inc. in San Francisco has named A. William Stein, 45, president and chief operating officer. Elisa F. DiTommaso, 36, has been named senior vice president for finance and chief financial officer. Mr. Stein had been executive vice president, chief financial officer and secretary since April 1996. Ms. DiTommaso had been senior vice president of capital markets since June.

Invesco PLC in New York has hired James Drury, 43, as credit analyst for its credit research group. He worked in a similar capacity at Bear Stearns & Co. in New York.

Boston Financial has promoted Vince Constantini, 42, to president its investment management division. He most recently served as chief operating officer. Thomas A. Steele, 58, has joined the firm as president of the real estate division. Mr. Steele had been an outside director of Boston Financial since 1993.

Carret & Co., a New York money manager, has appointed James R. Tesone, 41,as senior managing director and chief investment officer of fixed-income securities. Mr. Tesone had been managing director and chief investment officer for bonds at American Asset Management in New York.

Valic, the retirement services division of American General Financial Group in Houston, has appointed Edward J. Baum, 46, regional manager of its new Pesco Plus division based in Tallahassee, Fla. Mr. Baum had been a national sales director for MetLife in New York.

Brownson Rehmus & Foxworth Inc., a financial and investment advisory firm in Chicago, has named Lawrence R. Stack, 57, as president. He succeeds Frederick Rehmus, 64, who will remain active as a prinicipal in the firm’s California office. Mr. Stack had been a partner at Stein Roe & Farnham Inc. in Chicago.
